Each assault is a separate game based on a chit-pull system that can be completed in several hours. Historically the Union bested rebel forces on both flanks because it fed enough reinforcements in to stem the gray tide But that is not to say that the rebels don’t stand a chance. They do.

France '40 (2nd Edition)
France ’40 2nd Edition is a major upgrade to the original game. The rules for Extended Movement, Combat, Advance After Combat, Breakthrough Combat, and Determined Defense have been updated so they are more in line with the recent games in the 19XX series (such as Stalingrad ’42 and Salerno ’43). A turn consists of each player taking three actions to move or attack. Combat is done quickly by comparing values on the units. Variation comes from random, secret chits each player begins the game with permitting extra actions or combat advantages.
